There’s nothing quite like sliding your skis across a blanket of snow shining in the moonlight.
National Park Service rangers and the Gunnison Nordic Club are teaming up to host a moonlight ski at Black Canyon of the Gunnison this Saturday, Feb. 8.
Whether you’re a classic or skate skier, grab your gear and head to the park. You can meet up with other skiers and rangers at the park’s South Rim visitor center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. There will be light refreshments.
Although, be warned: The moon will only be a waxing crescent this Saturday. It won’t reach a full moon until Feb. 18.
The park asked people to consider carpooling as parking is limited. You can access the visitor center via South Rim Drive. Both East Portal and North Rim Roads are closed.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison is 264 miles from Denver near Montrose.
